Hi :) , today I say goodbye to you because I have to study for my University exams. And I have decided to publish this entry, is about the story of the Polar Express,  I loved this story when I was little. So, I think that there is no better way to say goodbye. I hope you like it.

This is the story of a young hero boy on Christmas Eve who boards on a powerful magical train that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus's home. What unfolds is an an adventure which follows a doubting boy, who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole; during this ride, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.
You can work the story in class, and do fun activities. Here's material I hope you find it useful.

This craft is very easy to make and I liked for this Christmas,I write here what is necessary so that you make it, I've done it in the school and the child liked them.
Materials:
card-stock paper
crayons or markers
scissors
tape
1.  Print these adorable free patterns from "Catholic Icing" on card-stock paper and have your little ones color them.
2. Cut out the shapes
3. Roll the cut-outs into tubes and tape the back edges together (I fold the tape over the edges).

Multiple intelligences

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
We are going to use the story “LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD” with our pupils as part of story based of work to develop multiple intelligences. We chose this story because this end contains an important moral that all teach children: not to talk to strangers because you don't know what can happen.
So the children know the story we can listen the story in this website:
The activities are focused to 5-year-old children.
  INTERPERSONAL
-          First we will use the flashcards vocabulary of story to let children know about the different words, here is the material:

 -          Then we will preform a little theatre with the children and their parents:

It brings together children in a circle. Write the names of common children's characters and each child to choose who you want to represent. Teach the little phrase they have to memorize (gives them some time to practice) leave to act against the group. We will help in the preparation of costumes and options. Make it simple. And we will finally make the theatre

    INTRAPERSONAL
-          Explain to children the different characters, because we need that the children understand the characters and the role played in the story
-          Working the different emotions about the story (how the characters feel)
-          We will also work different parts of the face, because the Wolf named them in the story
               VISUAL
-          Associating pictures with words
-          Draw the characters with the most important characters (little red riding hood, the wolf, grandma and mother)
-

Ordering pictures to the story
 NATURALIST
-          Learn about the different parts of the forest, plants and how dangerous that is.
-          We will go the trip  to the forest in order that they could know where the history develops
 LINGUISTIC
-          Listen to the story (twice)
-          Learn the vocabulary with the flashcards
-          Learn phrases representing about story
-          Thinking about a different ending
  MATHEMATICS
-          Remember the numbers ( 1-9)
-          Count different elements of the story and the little red in the image, circle a little red who have a book

MUSICAL
-  Listen this song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpQHd1rfmGI and learn the vocabulary
-           Sing the song using different shapes:
-slow
-quick
-laughing
-crying
-Then fill the blanks of the songs with words studied the flashcards

The magician

HOW WE ARE GOING TO WORK THE BOOK
“The Magician” is a funny book for children of 3rd level of primary school. The author of the book is Günter Gerngross and the editorial is Longman.
We have chosen this story because we think that is appropriate for nine-yearold
children. It has many colourful pictures and the vocabulary is suitable.
To work the reading of the story at the class we will read a chapter each day.
Children will read the book loudly together. When pupils finish each chapter, teacher
will ask about details of the story.
Next day, children will do an oral summary before they start to read another
chapter.
When the book finishes, pupils will do an activity with Movie Marker that
consists of order cartoons basing on reading. The final result will be a movie with story
pictures and a song of bottom. Each group choose the song that they want.
This is an example of how could be the Movie Maker activity done by children.

The three musketeers

HOW WE ARE GOING TO WORK THE BOOK
“The Three musketeers” is an interesting book for children who are in the 6 level of primary school. The author of the book is Alexander Dumas and the editorial is Burlington Books.
We have chosen this story because we think that is appropriate for twelveyear-old
children and it is a historic novel which pupils can learn new vocabulary.
To work this reading at the class we will read loudly together. When pupils
finished each chapter, they will translate and comment it with their partners. Next day,
children will do an oral summary before they start to read more pages of the story.
When the book will have finished, pupils do an activity with Glogster, an
application to do murals in groups. They will have to create the poster with sentences
from the book, pictures, songs, characters, the title of the story, and whatever they
want. Finally, they will expose it to the class.

PLAY AND LEARN

Many times the children are forced to learn English by their parents, this becomes a problem because they see it as boring.I think that as teachers we need to create situations where children have fun and learn. In this way the children will learn much more.

RESOURCES

Looking for resources for my students in practices I've found this page that has a lot of material for children http://supersimplelearning.com/resource-center/topic/christmas/

How can I help my child like English?

Let your children see YOU enjoying EnglishOne of the best ways to get children interested in doing something is to let them observe you enjoying that activity. Don’t make a big deal out of it, but let your children see you reading English books or newspapers. Watch English DVDs, listen to English music or let them see you speaking English with a friend. Your children look up to you. When they are playing, they pretend to be you. If you’d like them to be interested in English, show them that you are interested in English.

Expose your children to EnglishRemember that INPUT is essential. Identify some English media (such as DVDs and CDs) that your children like and let them enjoy it on their own terms without pressuring them to produce English right away. Sometimes we have unrealistic expectations for young foreign language learners. Just as a young native English speaker needs time to start producing English, so does a young foreign language learner. Almost all language learners go through a “silent period” before they begin producing language on their own. Naturally, the silent period for a child can often be quite long.

Christmas film

Have you ever noticed it? The magic of Christmas is already beginning to flood it all. On the streets, in shop windows and on the faces of the children already the illusion feels... and to us we love! For this reason, we encourage you to live Christmas with your family and see this film

VOLCANO

There is so much children can learn by doing science experiments at home. They don’t need to be complicated, they can be easy science experiments for kids with things you already have in your kitchen.

For this experiment you’ll need:
Empty plastic bottle
Dough for your volcano
Water
2 TB Baking Soda
Vinegar
Food Coloring
6 Drops of Dish Soap

First make your dough for your volcano, I got my recipe here. Once you have your dough you mold a volcano around your empty plastic bottle. I put our volcano in a baking dish to contain the mess since we are doing it indoors.
Your volcano should look something like this. Be sure not to cover the opening of the bottle.Next careful fill the bottle with warm water and food coloring of your choice. For more realistic colors use orange and red. Next add the dish soap which helps trap the bubbles produced by the reaction so you get more bubbly lava. Add your baking soda and then slowly poor in the vinegar…

Snowman foam shape
Chocolate chips for “coal”
Pipe cleaner for nose and arms

This Activity:

Promotes fine motor skills
Enahnces math skills such as counting and quantity
Builds vocabulary
Teaches holiday themes and concepts

We used chocolate chips to make eyes and mouth and buttons. We counted them as we laid them down. Then we added pipe cleaner for the nose and arms. This was such as simple and fun snowman activity for winter or Christmas.

I’m pledging to relax and enjoy them all, I think the suspense and time catching up with friends and family is the most important, I don’t want us to wish away the time at all, it’s such a special time of year. A time for friends and family and remembering all the ones we wish could be here too.

The celebration of the holiday season like children. But often are unaware of the origin of this holiday season. Explain to children where they come from these celebrations is a good way to understand the meaning of Christmas. Thus, we will be transmitting the cultural meaning of these holidays. The villain of the story

Tired of always being the villain of the story, Mr. Wolf got up one morning ready to give up his job. He put on his best suit, had a good shave and went off to the employment office for children stories’ characters. At the office there was a great fuss going on.
Puss-in-Boots had tried to jump the queue and pass in front of Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother and the witch in Snowwhite was so furious
that she had turned him into a mouse:
– Such disrespect for your elders! -She shouted angrily.
The office staff took more than half an hour to convince the witch to turn Puss in Boots back to normal, so that is why there was so much delay that morning. When they finally shouted out his name,
the wolf, dragging his feet, sat down at the office worker’s desk.
– How can I help you, Mr. Wolf? Have you had any delays with your salary this month?
– No, no problem at all with that. The trouble is with the job itself. I am tired of being the villain of the stories; of the children being afraid of me; of all the other story characters laughing at me when I end up burnt, with my stomach full of stones or shot by the hunter. Either you turn me into hero or I quit my job!
– But we can’t do that! For heroes, we’ve already got loads of Princes!
– But that is also very boring. Haven’t you heard the princesses’ complaints? They are fed up with having to be the dainty ones always in need of being saved. Times are changing, sir. You should all know this once and for all!
But however much Mr. Wolf tried to convince the officer he got nowhere, so he left the office angrily ready to never, ever work again.
And this was how the stories ended without a villain. The Three Little Piglets stared with nostalgia at their new brick house with a chimney. Little Red Ridding Hood was dissapointed with her granmother because she didn’t have either big eyes, or a big nose or mouth. The Seven Little Goats waited bored out of their minds for their mother to come back home. Peter did not scare anyone when he shouted “Here comes the Wolf!”… Because they all knew that Mr. Wolf had gone forever.
But the worse thing was that, without Mr. Wolf, the stories stopped being funny and the children were getting so bored that they stopped reading.
At the employment office of children’s stories, all the characters were so worried that they decided to have a meeting to try to find a solution.
– If children stop reading, we will soon all disappear!
– We need to convince Mr. Wolf to return to his job as the villain of the stories.
– We have to promise him that we will not laugh at him again. We need him!
So they all went together to visit him. When Mr. Wolf saw that all the characters wanted him to return, he was very touched.
– Ok -said Mr. Wolf-, I see that I have no choice but to accept my role as the villain of the stories. But to return to children’s literature I need a favour from all of you: I want all the children to know that in my free time I do not go around eating grandmothers, or little goats, or piglets.
– But, how can we do this? – they all asked at once.
– I know about a blog on children’s literature that I’m sure they would be interested in this story!- exclaimed the rabbit without ears enthusiastically.
And this is how the story of why Mr. Wolf didn’t want to be the villan of the story came to us…
